Who Gets a Starter Pack?

Homeless people living in Moray who meet the requirements for a starter pack fill out an application to MFS for the items that they need.  A starter pack is made up specific to their requirements.  Each starter pack is based on the stock in hand at the time.  Most applications come as referrals from other agencies.

Where Does the Stock Come From?

We rely on the Moray community to help us maintain the critical store of items that can be used to build a starter pack in the following ways:

  • Private donations of new or gently-used items
  • Community business donations of new items
  • Community organisation fundraising

Donations We Are Unable to Accept

Regretfully, it is not possible for us to accept the following items:

  • Used Pillows and Duvets
  • Used Electrical Goods
  • Furniture
  • Chopping Boards
  • Kitchen Knives

What a Starter Pack Can Mean for a Recipient

The following is a quote that was written by a recipient of a starter pack. We have her permission to share it with you:

"A hundred wedding presents, silver wedding presents, many years of
building up a beautiful home - wanting for nothing. Then suddenly having
to leave it all behind - let go. So hard to start again.
Generally, people don't realise, don't take time to think, that you are
right back at the start. Except there are no aunties, neighbours,
friends to gift kettles, irons etc this time.
So, thank you for co-ordinating this wonderful scheme. When I unpacked
my stuff, I just stood in my kitchen and wept - someone cared."
